A couple, the woman in modest attire and her husband in a simple suit, arrived

Image
A couple, the woman in modest attire and her husband in a simple suit, arrived unannounced at Harvard University's principal office after disembarking from a train at Boston Station. The receptionist, judging them hastily, initially dismissed their purpose. "We would like to meet with the principal," the man requested quietly. "He's occupied all day," the secretary curtly replied. "We'll wait," the woman asserted. Hours passed with the couple patiently seated, prompting the secretary to reluctantly inform the director of their persistence. "Perhaps if you meet with them briefly, they'll leave on their own," she suggested. Grudgingly, the director acquiesced. Upon their entrance, he scrutinized them with a stern gaze. The woman spoke softly: "Our son studied here and cherished this place. Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly a year ago. We wish to establish a memorial in his honor." The director, visibly annoyed, retorted,

Beloved ancestor and freedom fighter

Image
Beloved ancestor and freedom fighter Harriet Tubman is one of our biggest heroes. We don't only remember her as a runaway enslaved African or a conductor of the Underground Railroad, we also remember her as an herbalist, wildcrafter, and freedom forager. Harriet used her knowledge of plants to heal Black and white soldiers in the Union army during the Civil War and to keep her passengers safe on the Underground Railroad. She famously cured a soldier who was dying from dysentery by concocting a medicinal infusion made from water lilies and cranesbill. She also used herbal remedies such as bread dosed with tinctures made from opium poppies to quiet babies on the Underground Railroad, as to not give away the position of those she was guiding to freedom. Harriet also had to gather sustenance for the many journeys along the Underground Railroads, and in order to keep everyone fed she relied on her foraging.

A giant 🚢 ship's engine broke down

Image
A giant 🚢 ship's engine broke down and no one could repair it, so they hired a Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years of experience. ⚙️ He inspected the engine very carefully, from top to bottom. After seeing everything, the engineer unloaded his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He knocked something gently. Soon, the engine came to life again. The engine has been fixed! A week later the engineer mentioned to the ship owner that the total cost of repairing the giant ship was $20,000. 💰 "What?!" said the owner. “You did almost nothing. Give us a detailed bill." The Engineer replied him “The answer is simple:” Tap with a hammer: $2 Know where to knock and how much to knock: $19,998. 💰 The importance of appreciating one's expertise and experience because those are the results of struggles, experiments and even tears. If I do a job in 30 minutes ⏰ it's because I spent 20 years 📚 learning how to do that in 30 minutes. You owe me for the years, not the minute

I’M IN LOVE WITH MY LATE BROHERS WIFE:

Image
I’M IN LOVE WITH MY LATE BROHERS WIFE:  My brother got married to this beautiful Lady in December 2020. They had 2 kids before he passed on. Throughout their marriage I was in the UK and only came back last year when I lost my brother.  After the burial my family gave her 2 options:   1) since she's still young she can decide to go back to her parents and get married whenever she's ready.  2) she can still stay in husband's house and whenever she finds a man she can get married and move on with her life.  She's just 25yrs old.  So she chose to stay and mourn her husband. I normally paid her visits regularly to check on her and the kids, buy them stuff her husband could have bought if he was still alive. I tried to make her happy and not to really feel the gap in her husband's absence.  I won't lie I was doing all these as a caring brother in-law with no intentions.  I knew my brother would take care of my kids and wife if I was the one who passed away.  It was t

Swim calls on US Navy vessels are a longstanding

Image
Swim calls on US Navy vessels are a longstanding tradition allowing sailors to enjoy a break and swim in the open ocean. This practice, which dates back to at least World War II, involves sailors jumping off the ship into the water for relaxation and morale-boosting. The activity often occurs in calm, warm waters and can be accompanied by additional leisure activities like cookouts. Safety measures during swim calls include posting armed guards, such as sharpshooters on the ship or in rigid-hulled inflatable boats, to watch for sharks and other potential dangers. The crew members take turns jumping from the ship, often using aircraft elevators that lower them closer to the water to reduce the risk of injury from high jumps. Swim calls can involve various Navy vessels, from submarines to aircraft carriers, with the latter offering a dramatic experience due to their size and height above the water. This tradition allows sailors to unwind during long deployments and is often considered a

How can your wife be as romantic as your side chick

Image
How can your wife be as romantic as your side chick when you have impregnated her 5 times, sent her to labour 5 times, antenatal, postnatal and breastfeeding for many years, childcare and upbringing till each baby turns 20, school runs every morning and evening, kitchen to cook for you and your 5 kids, in the hospital for many days just to look after your kids when they fall ill, house chores and groceries are still to be taken care of by her. You the husband has caused her many cuts down her "V", cuts as a result of CS, what about sagged breast and stomach stretch marks you caused her, pimples, you caused her during pregnancy, what about vomiting and loss of appetite, you have totally withdrawn your wife from the society because of the African culture and yet you don't want to value and respect her, yet the only thing you remember is that she is not romantic but your side chick is.  Put that your side chick to this life threatening adventure and see if she can cope. In the quiet, sun-drenched stretches of the Lowcountry

Image
In the quiet, sun-drenched stretches of the Lowcountry , spanning Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina, resides a vibrant and resilient community known as the Gullah Geechee. These are the descendants of Africans, brought forcibly to the New World, who were enslaved on the rice, indigo, and Sea Island cotton plantations along the lower Atlantic coast. Many of these ancestors hailed from the rice-growing regions of West Africa, bringing with them a rich cultural heritage that has stood the test of time. The Gullah Geechee people were isolated on coastal plantations and islands, a seclusion that enabled them to preserve their unique cultural practices and traditions. Their culture, deeply rooted in African customs, manifests in their distinctive arts, crafts, culinary traditions, music, and language. Gullah Geechee is not just a language; it's a testament to the enduring spirit of a people. This unique creole language, spoken in the coastal areas of North Carolina, So

Cinema audiences are probably no longer unfamiliar with the title "Even God Must Laugh". The film is basically about the conflict when a new order and an old era meet. The lives of South Africa's indigenous tribes changed completely when a bottle of Coca-Cola fell from a plane. The director wanted to make a project about indigenous people as close to real life as possible, so he hired a real indigenous person to act in the film. His name is N!xau - an indigenous person with a peaceful life. before the white man knocked on the door. Even God Must Laugh The first part is the most successful film in South African history, made with a budget of only 5 million USD but excellently brought in a profit of up to 200 million. With the money the studio earned, main actor N!xau was paid only 300 USD. The indigenous person N!xau did not have any opinion at that time because he did not understand much about the value of money. It wasn't until the second part was released 9 years la

Over 6,000 years ago, a mysterious civilization had detailed maps of our solar system.

Image
Over 6,000 years ago, a mysterious civilization had detailed maps of our solar system. The Sumerians created these drawings using clay. The surviving drawings show that they understood that the sun is a star at the center of the solar system and that other planets revolve around it. They even accurately sketched the orbits and positions of the planets.  Interestingly, some of their paintings also depict strange images with giant entities. The Sumerians considered them to be deities. Intriguingly, some of the drawings of these gods even display symbols resembling human DNA sequences. Additionally, they had symbols related to medicine, which bear significant resemblance to modern medical symbols. To this day, we still cannot understand how thousands of years ago, the oldest civilization of mankind had such profound knowledge of astronomy. This raises the question of whether this ancient civilization was not backward, but rather had advanced far beyond our current understanding of them.

Imagine the dust-choked skies of the 1930s

Image
Imagine the dust-choked skies of the 1930s Dust Bowl, where survival was a daily struggle and creativity became a lifeline. Amid the turmoil, a remarkable twist emerged from an unlikely source—flour companies. As families stitched together flour sacks into makeshift clothing for their children, the companies noticed and took action.  They began to package their flour in colorful, decorative bags adorned with cheerful flowers and vibrant patterns. This simple gesture turned practical necessity into a source of joy for the little girls who wore these unique creations. It’s astonishing how a touch of creativity and kindness could transform the mundane into something magical during such challenging times.

Taken from another cool site.  In the 1600’s mummies were found in a town called Venzone, Italy. These mummies were not wrapped or treated by humans, but preserved by nature. Scientists are still not sure how this happened, because it is very rare and unusual. A French writer named F. Savorgnan de Brazza wrote an article about these mummies in 1906. He said that they looked like normal people, but very light and dry.  He thought that maybe a kind of fungus was responsible for keeping them from decaying.

speech at the Women's Convention in Akron, Ohio.

On this day in 1851, Sojourner Truth delivered the "Ain't I a Woman?" speech at the Women's Convention in Akron, Ohio. “Well, children, where there is so much racket there must be something out of kilter. I think that ‘twixt the Negroes of the South and the women at the North, all talking about rights, the white men will be in a fix pretty soon. But what’s all this here talking about? That man over there says that women need to be helped into carriages, and lifted over ditches, and to have the best place everywhere. Nobody ever helps me into carriages, or over mud-puddles, or gives me any best place! And ain’t I a woman? Look at me! Look at my arm! I have ploughed and planted, and gathered into barns, and no man could head me! And ain’t I a woman? I could work as much and eat as much as a man – when I could get it – and bear the lash as well! And ain’t I a woman? I have borne thirteen children, and seen most all sold off to slavery, and when I cried out with my mother’

One day, my wife pleaded with me to allow the son of her closest friend to live with us.

One day, my wife pleaded with me to allow the son of her closest friend to live with us. She and the boy’s mother were best friends growing up, and after her friend passed away, the boy had no one to turn to. My wife wanted to help him out. I was skeptical at first. We had agreed that no family members would live with us once we go t married. But technically, he wasn’t family. After much pleading, I finally gave in. The next day, a very handsome, tall, light-skinned boy in his early 20s moved into our house. I noticed my wife was always in his room, talking and laughing with him. When I complained, she explained that she didn’t want him to feel the loss of his mother and was trying to keep him company. She even taught him how to drive with my car, which became the first car he ever drove. The day I asked him to wash the car, my wife got upset. She spent the day squeezing her face, and when I asked her why, she said she didn’t want him to feel like we were maltreating him. “Maltreating

In 1987, a 74-year-old rickshaw puller by the name of Bai Fangli came back to his hometown planning to retire from his backbreaking job. There, he saw children working in the fields, because they were too poor to afford school fees. Bai came back to Tianjin and resumed his job as a rickshaw puller, securing a humble lodging near the railway station. He remained available for customers around the clock, consumed basic meals, and dressed in cast-off second-hand attire he stumbled upon. Every penny he earned through hard work went towards assisting underprivileged children in accessing education. In 2001, he drove his rickshaw to Tianjin YaoHua Middle School, to deliver his last installment of money. Nearly 90 years old, he told the students that he couldn't work anymore. All of the students and teachers were moved to tears. In total, Bai donated a total of 350,000 yuan to help more than 300 poor students continue with their studies. In 2005, Bai passed away leaving behind an inspirin

OKADA the Nigeria popular word for Motorcycle was named after a village in Edo state !!! Originally It was nicknamed after Okada Air, the very first Private-Airline in Nigeria {1983 -1997}. OKADA Town is located in Ovia North east and it also houses the very first private university {IUO} in Nigeria;  The word Okada itself is derived from two edo words; Oke means hill in Edo language while Ada is a name of a River.   ‘Oke’ & ‘Ada’ -“The hill top of River Ada” In January 2020 the word “OKADA” was added to the OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY— “a noun for motorcycle in the dictionary”   but in actual sense it’s an edo word & the very first Edo word in the English Dictionary.. Dear motorists - and non-horse people

Image
Dear motorists - and non-horse people , please do not drive in front of a horse-trailer into the supposedly large gap to the foreman. We have a long distance from the front man, not because we drive slowly Wir, but we need a long brake path. Unfortunately, we don't have it anymore, if you stop in front of us. Our horses in the trailer need us to be careful and slow in curves and slow down so they have a chance to balance. Not only can they otherwise be seriously injured, it can even flip the entire trailer and cause serious accidents. On the photo you can see how little space and opportunity the mare has to keep her balance. The foal is even right under her. She knows a misstep could seriously hurt her foal, so she tries to keep it from moving as possible. You can only do that if I can drive carefully. Please help me do this and consider! May be shared, because I know that most drivers do it not out of carelessness, but out of ignorance

Good morning.

Image
Good morning. At the time that we joined together to ratify the Kayanarekówa (Great Peace), a total eclipse darkened the skies so deeply that the nocturnal animals woke to encircle and witness the calm of the people who unified under the Great White Pine. As our brother the Sun re-emerged from behind the kindness of Grandmother Moon, all Onkwehonwe were awakened with a new sense of unity and we intend to walk in unity until the end of time. Haudenosaunee communities are aligned with the eclipse path. There is no evidence that this alignment has happened since the stories of Kayanarekówa (Great Law) and there is no evidence that it will happen again. In this world of war, we are reminded of the monumental role that Peace Mother, Tsiokonsaseh played in establishing unity, equality and peace among the nations. We are calling in peace now and we are elevating Peace Mother and our voices to call for reunification. Some believe that Tekanawita/Deganawida (Peacemaker) will return in this time

#OnThisDay in 1859, American abolitionist John Brow n was executed for leading a raid at Harpers Ferry, Virginia (now West Virginia). The raid was intended to start a slave liberation movement that would spread through mountainous regions of Virginia and North Carolina. Brown was born in Connecticut in 1800 and became militant beginning in the mid-1850's, when he served as a leader of the Free State forces in Kansas and fought pro-slavery settlers. In 1859, Brown sought to follow up on the moderate success that he achieved in Kansas with a more ambitious plan. Brown and a group of followers raided the Federal arsenal at Harper's Ferry and brought 1,000 pike heads for enslaved African Americans to use for revolt. Brown was captured and executed. On the day of his execution, he wrote” “I, John Brown, am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away but with blood. I had, as I now think, vainly flattered myself that without very much bloodshed it

“In 1980, I was sentenced to death by the military regime. For six months in prison, I awaited the execution day. Often, I shuddered with fear of death. But I would find calm in the fact of history that justice ultimately prevails. I was then, and am still, an avid reader of history. And I knew that in all ages, in all places, he who lives a righteous life dedicated to his people and humanity may not be victorious, may meet a gruesome end in his lifetime, but will be triumphant and honored in history; he who wins by injustice may dominate the present day, but history will always judge him to be a shameful loser. There can be no exception.”  In his Nobel Prize lecture, Kim Dae-jung shared the story of how he bravely struggled against authoritarian regimes in South Korea. For this he was imprisoned several times. After being sentenced to death Kim Dae-jung was sent to Chungju prison.   His wife Lee Hee-ho knitted clothes to give more warmth than the prison uniform. In prison he was only

The Nine Day Queen 🤍

Image
The Nine Day Queen 🤍 Paul Delaroche, one of the most popular French painters of the early 19th century, was born #OnThisDay in 1797. His monumental painting 'The Execution of Lady Jane Grey' depicts the final moments of Britain's shortest reigning monarch, Lady Jane Grey, who was executed at only seventeen years of age.  Delaroche’s choice of British subject matter reflects the French fascination with English culture in the 1820s and 1830s. Contemporary French viewers would have been alert to the parallels between Tudor history and relatively recent events in France after the Revolution of 1789, most obviously, the similar fates of Lady Jane Grey and the French queen Marie-Antoinette, who had faced the guillotine in 1793. Delaroche turns an event from British history into a compelling visual spectacle that also served as a commentary on France’s recent and bloody .

In ancient Egyptian times

Image
INTERESTING FACT FROM HISTORY In ancient Egyptian times , women were seen and honored as higher and holier than a man. The woman is the mother of all, giving life and teaching. The ancients believed that when a man achieves a great deal of knowledge, spirituality and power, he would be allowed to wear a long hair wig to symbolize that he had reached a certain level equal to a woman. As the two come together she holds her man, giving him strength and protection. There is a saying that continues to float today: Behind every successful man there is a strong woman.

Our Ancestors were not fools.

Image
Our Ancestors were not fools. When strange or bad things happen, they ask God questions and look for a solution, they don't thank him. When they want food, they go to farms they don't go to pray in their shrines. When any of them commits sin, he is punished to deter others from doing the same, they don't tell God to forgive him. When they want money, they sell their farm and fish products or anything they learnt how to produce, they don't pray to God to give them. When they are sick, they go to an herbalist or make use of herbs and roots that can cure the sickness, they don't wait for miracles. When they want a wife, they investigate the would-be in-laws, they don't pray in the shrine for signs and wonders. According to Senegalese historian Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop, the ancient name of Africa was Alkebulan, which means "mother of mankind" or "garden of Eden". The name was used by the Moors, Nubians, Ethiopians, and other indigenous people. The name Africa was given to the continent by the ancient Romans and Greeks. Some experts believe that the name Africa comes from two Phoenician words, "friqi" and "pharika", which translate to "corn" and "fruit". The word "Africa" came into existence in the late 17th century. Initially, it only referred to the northern part of the continent. Around that time, the continent had been colonized, and the Europeans ruled over its people as slaves. They influenced the change of identity from Alkebulan to its present name.
