On a Day Like Today ~ July 24, 1774.  Caroline Fox, 1st Baroness Holland née Lennox, great granddaughter of HM King Charles II, died. Lady Caroline was born in late March 1723 at Richmond House in London as the first child and eldest daughter of Charles Lennox, 2nd Duke of Richmond and his wife Sarah Cadogan.  She was baptized as Georgiana Carolina but went by the name of Carolina throughout her life.  Her paternal grandfather was an illegitimate son of HM King Charles II.   In 1744 Caroline eloped with Henry Fox, a politician who was 18 years her senior which caused a great scandal in high society.  While her parents disapproved of the marriage, it was said to be a happy union.  The marriage produced 4 sons, 3 of which survived into adulthood.
