The story came to me in the form of a remarkable book, "No Quittin' Sense,' published by the University of Texas Press back in 1969. This photo shows Mr. White serving up some of the barbecue for which he was famous. ANYWAY, the Texas Quote of the Day comes directly from this book. As we pick up the narrative, it's about 1914.
